Purchasing a single coronavirus vaccine from Moderna will cost governments $ 25 to $ 37, depending on the size of the order. This was announced by the CEO of Moderna – Stefan Bansel with WamS.
“Our vaccine costs about as much as the flu vaccine, which costs between $ 10 and $ 50,” said Stephen Bansell.
On Monday, a representative of the European Union told the European Commission that it had reached an agreement with Moderna and that if millions of doses were ordered, they could buy each for $ 25.
“The agreement has not been finalized, but we are close to cooperating with the European Commission. We want to supply Europe with vaccines and constructive talks are underway,” Bensel said, adding that “there are days left” before the relevant contract is ready.
Recall that according to the results of an early study by Moderna, the company vaccine in 94.5% of cases can protect the patient from the virus. After the joint vaccine of Pfizer and BioNTech (according to the final result of the study, the efficiency is 95%), Moderna is the second potential company that will be able to protect the world from coronavirus.
