Having fun in the sun is just human nature. After all who can resist laying on the beach with a cocktail? But with that, we all know of the damages the sun can have on the skin. So how do you enjoy the sun while protecting your skin in summer? Well, that’s why you are here. We have a few tips that will help you protect your skin this summer. This may come as no surprise to you but sunscreen is one of the best ways to protect your skin from the sun. But with so many different options available it can be a bit confusing. Luckily there are a few things you can look out for when selecting a sunscreen. The first thing you should look for is a sunscreen with broad-spectrum protection.

If your sunscreen has the words “broad spectrum” on it, it means that it will protect you against UVA and UVB rays. The next thing you should look out for is the SFP number. In the case of sunscreen, the higher the number the more protection you will have. Aim for a sunscreen with a sun protection factor of at least 30 and above. Lastly, get a sunscreen that’s water-resistant. No sunscreen is waterproof so water-resistant is the best you can get. Look at the label to see how often you should reapply while swimming or sweating.
There are a few more things you can do to protect your skin from the sun. This includes wearing a hat, staying hydrated, and using a lip balm that also has sunscreen in it. Now for added protection, and keep in mind this is totally optional, you could wear a long-sleeved top and long pants. These types of clothes will help protect your skin from the sun. This may not be possible during a heatwave so try staying in the shade as much as possible.
