The Italian man went out for a walk after arguing with his wife to relax a bit, and finally covered 450 km.
The Italians named him “Forrest Gump” on the social network after the protagonist of the famous 1994 movie, played by Tom Hanks, who runs thousands of kilometers across the United States.
A police officer stopped an epic move by an Italian at 2am in the small Italian town of Fano on the Adriatic coast – a week after he left the northern city of Como.
A 48-year-old man was fined € 400 (approximately $ 485) by police for violating the curfew.
This story was first published by the Bologna newspaper Il Resto del Carlino, but in the Italian media it soon became viral.
On the social network, some commented that this man was a hero, and the fine – undeserved. One said that instead of being fined, something should be given to him as a reward and a new pair of shoes. Others praised him for instead of violence he decided to take a walk to vent his anger.
The man told police: “I came here on foot, I did not use any transport. I met many people on the way who offered me food and water. I am fine, but I got a little tired.” He covered an average of 60 km per day.
Police found him wandering aimlessly on a beach track in the cold of midnight.
After checking his identity at the base, police discovered that his wife had declared him missing, so he was contacted and his wife arrived in Fano to pick him up.
Italian sources did not say how the wife reacted when she heard that her husband had been fined € 400.
