Keeping Yourself Busy
By Penelope Trent - October 6, 2022

We all know that feeling you get around college when you are living on campus, and all your friends are busy, and you just start feeling really really bored. Sometimes, there isn’t much to do around that will keep you entertained, but if you want to get rid of the boredom and the blues of having nothing to do, then you can do something that might not keep you entertained but will keep you busy.

It can be as simple as finding a new hobby. You could use your free time to hit the gym, go for a swim, or just watch some shows online. If you are in a heavily social mood, then you can even try going to a bar or the cafeteria to try to meet new people even if you end up hanging out just for that day. This might even help you develop communication skills and the ability to socialize which would be great for your future.

Sometimes, you might not be in the mood for any of this. You won’t feel like going out, but you will also want to keep yourself entertained while staying in the room. This might be the best time to pull out an errand. Doing something as simple as laundry would take up a few hours and not only will you have finished with some work that you might be procrastinating on, but you will also have spent some hours you had to spare. Keeping yourself entertained and keeping yourself busy may not be the same thing but as long as you are busy, you might not feel as bored. So, whenever you find yourself with some time and nothing to do, you can start exploring your horizons and doing whatever keeps you occupied for the time being.
