NASA has Chosen The First Scientific Instruments For The Moon Station Gateway

The US aerospace agency NASA has identified the first scientific instruments and equipment to be put aboard the nearby Moon Gateway.

Gateway is one of the most important elements of NASA’s complex Artemis program. The goal of the program is to bring the US astronauts to the lunar surface in 2024. Implementation of the initiative will cost the United States $ 35 billion.

It is initially planned that the station Gateway will be used for exploring the lunar and distant cosmos. In the future, it will serve as an intermediate base for astronauts flying to or from Mars.

Two research tools are selected Station Gateway: they are designed to monitor space weather and radiation background. The first device was developed by NASA: it will monitor the solar winds. The European Space Agency (ESA) will present a radiation assessment device: the tool is expected to allow researchers to develop new methods of protecting astronauts who will take long missions in space.

In the future, additional research tools will be selected that will be added to the station’s Gateway equipment.
