A car has become one of the most essential modes of transportation. Learning to drive a car is just as important as learning to walk. Whether you are a new learner or an experienced driver, it is always good to give yourself a refresher on safe driving practices to ensure the safety of yourself and others. As convenient as cars are, they can become very dangerous and risky if you are not careful.

First off, make sure you never drive under the influence of hard drugs or alcohol. Intoxicants can kick in at any minute, so even if you feel like you are fine it is never a good idea to get behind the wheel if you have been drinking. Your vision can get blurred, and your reflexes can be reduced in speed and accuracy. Not only is this a danger to you and those in your car, but it can also be harmful to the pedestrians on the street. Next, you need to make sure you put on your seat belt as soon as you get into the car. Even if your car is parked, it may be a good idea to keep your seatbelt fastened. You may not be driving but if another car collides with your vehicle, you may get a jerk strong enough to smash your head on the windshield and result in life-threatening injuries.
It is also important to keep your focus on the road at all times and drive at the prescribed speed limits. Avoid getting into serious conversations or listening to loud music while driving. This can shift your focus and you might be looking at the passengers instead of the road, which is again a huge threat to safety. Following road safety rules are usually enforced by the law. You should always remember that these are for your safety and even if you feel like there is no policeman around, you should follow the rules for safe driving.
