Have you ever started stretching and thought “why am I even doing this?” Well, you aren’t alone. We have all been there before. After all, stretching doesn’t really help you lose weight and we all only work out to get our hearts racing and melt away the unwanted weight. However, you may be surprised to know that there are actually great benefits to stretching every day. Don’t worry it is not only to prevent you from pulling a muscle.

The first great benefit of daily stretching is that it increases your performance in physical activities. Now, this may seem a bit obvious but it is really not. You have to remember that when you perform physical activities you tend to use muscles and joints that aren’t usually used. With that said if you aren’t stretching your entire body daily, your joints and muscles are essentially cold and randomly using them would be like a shock to your system. This can result in injuries. Tense muscles can result in tension headaches. Any type of headache can spoil your mood and your day. You may have heard that you need to stay hydrated and eat correctly to avoid getting these types of headaches.
Now that’s no bad advice but it might not always work. Stretching your neck and even your entire body can be a great help to relieve the pressure that builds up in your neck. You may not notice but your posture can become really bad really quickly. This isn’t your fault. In fact, this is just your body’s way of trying to be comfortable. Although you are comfortable, bad posture can result in extreme back pain. You can try to avoid this by watching your posture and stretching out your back from time to time. Once your start stretching every day, you will start noticing minor changes in the way you move, walk and even sit.
