Arsenal are losing hope of completing a deal for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, after they failed to agree financial part of the deal and Tottenham Hotspur are ready seal the deal ahead of Gunners.

Mikel Arteta has been desperate to get a deal for 22-year-old midfielder over the line for weeks, but ‘The Gunners’ are yet to submit an offer anywhere near close to tempting Lyon in parting with one of their top performers.

“We know Houssem Aouar from Lyon is the player Mikel Arteta really wants to conclude his business with this window, but from what I’m told they’re losing a bit of faith that that deal can happen now,” said Crook on Friday.

“We know Arsenal have been in talks with Lyon for some time, but confidence is waning in north London.

“The Lyon president did come out earlier this week and say, ‘nobody would be leaving after tonight’, so clearly time is against them.

“The main issue for Arsenal is raising funds to meet Lyon’s £46million asking price before that deadline.

According to reports, Jose Mourinho is ready to sign the 22-year-old Frenchman ahead of his rival Mikel Arteta and are ready to pay asking price in January.

With Tanguy and Aouar in midfield behind Gareth Bale, Son and Kane Jose Mourinho will have a side which can fight for the Premier League title.

Aouar has made total of 140 appearances for Lyon in which he managed to score 24 goals and reamins one of the best talents in the world. By adding him, Spurs will surely boost their chances to fight for trophies.
